Year of Manufacture Certificate

Back

If you are intending to register your AJS Stormer with the DVLA (UK) for road use with an age related number plate, we can help by providing you with a Year of Manufacture Certificate.
We can date your motorcycle in one of two ways,

1) We can search for your chassis and engine number in our original factory records. (You will need to send us either a photo of the numbers or clear rubbings)
2) If your motorcycle was sold in kit form, or for another reason does not show up in the records, we can date it from key features. In this case you will need to send / e-mail us clear images of the right and left hand side of your bike.
The cost of dating and producing the certificate is £16.00 inc. VAT plus postage.

Where can I find my Stormer's chassis number?
1) On the head stock.
2) On the right hand swinging arm pivot plate, below the pivot point.
3) On the top left side shock absorber mounting bracket.

What does the chassis number look like?
You may see a number 0700875. This is the frame part number. It is sometimes used as part of the chassis ID number and will be followed by / and then 3 or 4 numbers.
Sometimes the chassis number is only 3 or 4 numbers long.

Where can I find my engine number?
Look on the front of the crankcases, under the exhaust outlet, between the front engine mounting brackets. You will probably have to clean the exhaust oil off to see it.
